Garry Kennard’s work over the last 40 years has been primarily one of an artist and illustrator and for some time the director of festivals and symposia dedicated to discussions around the arts and sciences. Throughout this time he has also been writing in a variety of genres, from essays, travel writing, and stories, to criticism and plays. These have been published in various magazines as well as limited editions produced by the writer under the auspices of GV Art.

The science writer, Rita Carter (Mapping the Mind, Exploring Consciousness) wrote, in the introduction to Kennard’s first book, ‘Essays and Images’:
