These are the first images in a large series of portraits of people (and some animals) who live in the neighbourhood of the artist’s studio in Holloway, London. The first stage will be of forty images but will continue after that, expanding to all areas of Holloway life. They are in effect secular icons. The images are intended to be exhibited together, lit by low light - candle light - along with the biographies of the sitters. They are all in the same format - oil on canvas, 51 x 41cm - with acrylic gold backgrounds. • Click on a thumbnail to view the painting |
