  • Lake District 2023. 1

Starting at The Old Dungeon Ghyll hotel in Upper Langdale I completed a four day journey ending up in Buttermere. I walked, via Rossett Gill and Angle Tarn, to my first camp at Sprinkling Tarn. An easy descent next day to Wasdale, where I stayed the night in the Wasdale Head Inn. The next day I crossed Beck Head and camped at Innominate Tarn on Haystacks. For my last day I traversed High Crag, High Stile and Red Pike, descending the scree run to Bleaberry Tarn. I intended to camp here but it was too crowded for my taste and I went on down to Buttermere and stopped at a hotel there. All this was done in perfect weather – for once.
