The plan was to travel over a good deal of the Lake District, traversing a number of big peaks, camping wild. It started in Langdale, traversed Harrison Stickle, Pike-o-Stickle, Scafell Pike, Black Sail Pass, Skiddaw and Blencathra. The middle part – Yewbarrow, Pillar Mountain and Haystacks – I had to miss due to the bad weather and me being utterly trashed by the first two days. I had the fierce heat of the first two days, rain and mist (including getting lost in it), a near hurricane on Skiddaw and a marvellous climax, climbing the Hall’s Fell Ridge on Blencathra.
